Spring Term 2008 - Cheaper holidays?

For those of you with children it might be worth checking next year's Spring Term dates.

I've got mine through and for the first time I can remember the Easter bank holidays do not merge into the the end of Spring Term. Good Friday 21/03, Easter Monday 24/03, end of spring term 04/04.

It seems that a lot of the holiday sites have not cottoned on yet so they've loaded the prices for the Easter bank holiday weeks but dropped them again for the end of term. I don't think this will last long so take a look while you can.

It has been set as the first 2 weeks in April up in the North East.
Makes sense really otherwise the Half term to Easter school weeks will only be a few weeks, which is far too short.

So easter next year is in March? Is this correct? Then schools break up AGAIN in April? Do they only get good friday to easter monday off then...then break up for 2 weeks in April?

Iam in East Yorkshire and confused lol.

Please can someone put me straight as if this is correct and holidays are cheap for once in a school hol this is fantastic news as we will be able to go away for DS 5th birthday (10th April)

Ive just got a quick quote on Virginholidays ...

family of 4 (2 adults 2 children) going to Florida for 2 weeks on the 3rd April 2008..staying on I drive..£2118.

Is that good for school hol time? I don't know as Ive never gone on hols in the school hols..were always naughty and taken them out but if the prices are the same we might as well go when were supposed to :rolleyes:

Easter is in March next year.
Schools don't break up for Easter, they are just off like any other bank holiday (good fri and easter mon), they break up for the "Easter holiday" in April.

Hope that explains it better.

Well, if you look at the same holiday, a week earlier...leaving 27 March 2008...the total would be £3200...as the week before comes into Easter dates.

Wow yeah it is good then!

Anyone know the school hols for May next year?? Just want to compare which school hol is cheaper to go in,april or may.

It will depend on your area. Dates are usually posted on your county council website. My area (Cambridgeshire) the Easter hols are from 21 March - 4 Apr + 7 Apr as teacher training day.

Hi,

Its not the case for my area (east yorkshire)..council says they breaking up thurs 20th march for easter and don't go back untill tues 8th april...so its like easter bank hol and spring half term merged into 1.

Poo. Was hoping to take advantage of the holiday prices being the same
