My wife recently called the Ambulance service and as she was to weak to let them in - They had to smash down the door (Police) and it was later boarded up by a Police supplied contractor.
Questions
1. Do i owe the police money for the boarding up
2. Can i can claim for a new door on my Building and contents insurance as i cant really afford to buy a new door - as it wasn't planned for
3. Do i need to go through the Police supplied contractor
4 Any other advice welcomed.
Thanks

have you thought about a key safe if you feel this may happen again ?
You can register the key safe location and number with the police key holder scheme.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

1. yes.
2. you can claim, the insurance co might not pay out though.
3. Not for the new door, no.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
You need to check your policy and see if this is covered (buildings, not contents) - or ask the insurer directly.0

I'm not sure whether you owe the Police for the boarding up (as Owain claims) - I didn't when they smashed down my door looking for a missing man. They said that it was their duty to make the property secure.
Perhaps it varies between authorities? I'd wait until they sent me a bill, then assume after a month that it's OK.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
I currently have a building and contents insurance with emergency cover - On the building insurance section it says
1. Emergency entry - Unlimited
2 External door locks - £500
3 Glass and sanitary ware - unlimited
4 Professional fee, clearance costs and local authority requirements - Unlimited
Can someone explain . I dont want to call the insurance company just in caseI owe £3233 @ 0%0 -
If you have "unlimited" cover for emergency entry, then you look to be covered, but before claiming you should see if there are any "exclusions" to the cover written in the policy which apply in your case (including any excess you will have to pay).0

I have gone through the document again and there are no exclusions to the Emergency entry. I have also been intouch with the Boarding contractor - who confirms that an invoice will be arriving at the address.I owe £3233 @ 0%0

I have just received a shocker from the Insurance company - £600 pounds to pay as excess . OMG - I think i am much better off sorting the thing out myself - I am sure fitting a new door should not be a big deal - I might be wrong.I owe £3233 @ 0%0

thing is going by watch dog says last night, you have to declare in on renewalsDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
