JUST GOT A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS ONE.
Two weeks or so ago I placed a set of wheels and tyres on ebay the auction clearly states several times that payment is to be made as soon as auction ends by paypal.
The one and only bidder won items and as yet 8 days later still has not payed. He contacted me 4 days ago saying "can he pay by paypal and get a carrier to collect the wheels (I had stated they were pickup only due to the size and weight of the wheels)"
I agreed and asked him to pay straight away reminding him of the terms in the auction. Now another 4 days have past still nothing I have opened a non payment case against him.But I feel that i dont want to sell to him anymore can I refuse to sell to him.I get the feeling its going to be more trouble than it worth especially as hes not going to see the wheels when they get picked.(what if they get damaged etc etc) Or he's unhappy with them when they arrive and he does not want them he lives over 300 miles away
any advice would be appreciated
regards

No one can force a seller to sell.
Allowing your buyer to arrange the courier was not a good idea, as you said, what about damage-you'd find it very difficult to claim back from a courier company you don't have the contract with.
If the buyer doesn't want them etc he'd have to return them to you for a refund -can you see him doing that?
As a seller you need to take responsibility for delivery of your items or make them Cash on Collection.
Sit tight and hope your buyer doesn't pay!0 -
the auction clearly states several times that payment is to be made as soon as auction ends by paypal.
Also specifying Paypal for a collection can be risky due to the Paypal on collection scam. You need to assess the risk and decide if in future loistings you wish to take it.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

Although you can't refuse Paypal on any items - therefore eBay is not always the best place to sell - Oliver has it right, it might actually be in your interests to accept cash when they pick it up. That avoids the possibility of a fraudulent chargeback, and it does have advantages for the buyer if you allow them to check the item out - they get to see it up front before accepting it.
You don't have to honour the sale unless they pay, but payment immediately at EOA is foolish to demand as people may not be online right at that point - even if they do bid in the last minutes they may have set an automatic "snipe" program to do it for them. It's reasonable to send an invoice at that point or, in this case, contact them and ask them when they intend to pick the item up - but be reasonable - insisting on payment up front when you can't enforce this is not going to make buyers pay quicker - it's likely to annoy them and you get better results by being liberal with payment times, at least up until you can open a dispute after four days.
Flexibility usually pays more dividends than arbitrary rules. With anything up until the absolute date that eBay allow you to close a dispute - eight days - I'm grand. There's no point in any other rules because there's as many ideas on how it should be as there are buyers and you want payment rather than to have to launch a dispute anyway. Some principles are OK to have but mostly you need to think about your buyer as well.
With collection items, you should usually allow a week or so for them to make contact and arrange to collect. Most people are going to want to pick up at the weekend. If they suggest arranging a courier, tell them you will do that for the extra they would otherwise pay - this keeps your liabilities all within your control since if anything goes wrong in transit it's your liability but the buyer has the contract with the courier, which means they have to claim from them and not everyone is that savvy about this."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

You can refuse to sell and he can leave bad feedback and refuse to agree to cancellation leaving you paying final value fees. Your best bet is to let the NPB take its course.0 -
If they pay, i would refund them and relist or arrange delivery yourself. You have no protection if they pay
by paypal or arrange their own courier.
If they leave a negative just reply, Item was collection only and they couldn't collect.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
