wasnt even told about no trainers and jeans, no 1 commented to us 4 about wearing jeans.
They leave it up to you and don't comment, because they are looking to see who dresses smart off their own back and thus who might have the potential to move into supervisory or management positions.
It's an indicator. And a very good one.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

That's why it's important to dress smart at the induction.
Its not hard work at all(i understand what your saying). I was just stating the 4 of us at induction wore jeans and trainers, no 1 said anything to us. I even met my manager and he didnt say anything with what i was wearing or even give the look to say "what are you wearing".0 -

Smart Casual = Enthusiastic, making an effort
Jeans/Trainers = I need a job, who cares what I look like.
It will be remembered!Life is too short to drink bad wine!0 -
definately not jeans and trainers! if in doubt then always go for smart casual as in trousers and shirt - no tie. As an employer I wouldn't be impressed with someone turning up in jeans and trainers on their first day , even if it is for just form filling and h&s training.0

I would never EVER wear jeans at an interview or induction day. Even for voluntary work i dress smart for interview. Tho it baffles me when I see ppl get employed looking scruffy in market stall jumpers etc, I feel it appears unprofessional and gives off an air of I dont care. I know someone who worked in a factory for years who still wore suit to his interview tho it bears no relation on what he wears doing said job.
Induction days are where both you and the employer get the first glimpses of each other in action at work. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0
