in Credit cards
Dear All
I am nearing the end of 2 of my 0% deals and looking to roll the money to new credit cards. I am thinking of Halifax as I have been a customer of them for nearly 10 years (probably the charity card as there appear to be no incentives for personal gain at the moment ?).
I was halfway through filling the form and got to the other credit cards section - it asks for all credit card details (not just the ones that you want to BT). Does anyone know - do you have to list all? I am obviously aware that they can tell from my credit report what limits I have, and was quite prepared to fill in details on the two cards I want to transfer, but wondered if it would be an excuse to turn me down (or, if transferring 2 cards and showing others with high limits, it demonstrates my ability to pay and that I am consolidating my "debt")?
Many thanks

In answer to my own question, I decided to be honest and complete the existing information and try to roll the credit around (£35k approx) from stooze cards - the Halifax response (quick as a flash) was that as a responsible lender my unsecured credit is higher than their lending criteria allows therefore declined (near 100% salary - I also have another £5k but no room on the form ) .
I would welcome any thoughts on tactics as I have just over 6 weeks to get a credit card to transfer £16.5k or retrieve from the high interest account and pay it back. As this is my second wave of stooze (I only started in November), my stooze career could be over before it has begun. I was being cheeky as Cap One £18k does not run out until October but thought I had to be honest and declare this (I was also hoping to demonstrate consolidation and the idea was that this was to replace 2 of my cards, not necessarily in addition to).
I also posted a form to Citibank yesterday (didn't ask about all cards, only which cards you wanted to transfer and only put the two I need to transfer). Hopefully they will be an irresponsible lender and let me have a card with a decent limit. Looking at discussions on here, my 105% salary does not look that high?

Why not give FirstDirect a try. And what about egg? (If you don't have these already)Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

Maybe the trick in such cases is to only divulge details of those cards that are reported to the CRA which is accessed by Halifax for doing their credit checks???It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0

Interesting point thanks - the difference with this one was that it specifically asked you to declare all cards (which they could check anyway), therefore not declaring would lead to a false declaration? That said, they only provide room for 4 cards.
I will wait for the outcome from Citi before applying for more otherwise I could hit my credit rating.

Good point, Anon. I stand corrected - you're right, that would tantamount to falsification. It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0 -

Currently waiting for copies of all my credit files from the three providers so that I can see who is recorded where. This may help.
Thank you

This timing alone suggests no CR file search was done and the form simply rejected you on the sum of the balances you were declaring. I found this rejection reason occurred with HBOS which - when I phoned them up and teased it out of them - they heavily hinted that their 'prudence' figure for further borrowing is somewhere below 100% of salary [i.e. they won't lend where you have at least a years' salary alredy borrowed]
Have you considered applying for [or at least looking at the questions asked] other HBOS cards? What about SanisburysBank? [5 months 0% balance transfers/purchases] They might be a 'softer touch'?.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
you could try speaking to the branch manager if you have agood customer relationship with halifax, they usualy have some discretion, you can tell them that you plan to balance transfer the amts to halifax card and close the other cards. You could also say that you future custom depends on their decision. this worked for me with smile in the past
