Occasional Student car insurance

My student son is at uni and my insurance company (Direct Line) will insure him for 90 days in any one year - in summer 2006 they charged £84 for fully comp with £500 excess. When the 90 days is used, they will insure but for greatly increased premiums. Over Christmas he was insured for 10 days....costing £29.40. Can…

As well as giving me a reasonable quote they put both my son and daughter on my insurance for about £80 a year. When she is back at uni, they send me money back by direct payment but there is an admin charge. Worth it though as they do earn their own no claims discount.
