Hi
Looking for an iPad 2 for my son
I see John Lewis has 2 year warranty. Does anyone know if this is Apple Care?

Hi

No, it's not AppleCare. They offer their own 2 year parts and repair warranty the same as the 5 year on TV's. This is because they know that it's statistically a high probability that the telly or iPad will fail in the first year of it's use (manufacturers guarantee period). After that the likelyhood of failure is very low. It's called the "Bathtub Curve" where the failure rate is high in the early part of a units life and then settles down to a low failure rate until the components come to the end of their natural life span and the failure rate starts to increase. This is why warranty periods vary so much and why John Lewis only sell the premium brands to ensure that they don't fall over before their own warranty runs out.
It's only recently that they have begun offering 2 year warranty on the iPad. Why? They have been on the market for almost 2 years with low failure rates. A 2 year warranty therefore is a good sales pitch with low risk. Otherwise known as smart marketing
When the price of the iPad from John Lewis is the same as Apple then buying from John Lewis with the second years warranty for free is a no brainer.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do not adjust your mind, the world is at fault.
