well, wow.. lots of voices about foxtons.. and good to hear them all.

After all that, I feel we will DEFINATLEY NOT be using them as an buying agent!!

regarding the Alexander Hall info.. well, a it's a bit dodgy passing on clients info, but i would guess that is totally stopped now? and we will not go beyond our limits (which arent that high anyway!)

regardless, i dont think i would mind using them, just cos thay are the only one that has been recommended by a couple of people on here.
It just all depends on wether my partner agrees.

Are they really Fee-Free? I'm sure the foxtons people said they were.. yet i spoke to some one at another E.A (Barnard Marcus) and they said that fee's were involved with Alexander Hall.

Alexander Hall USED to be fee free but now are not. They were fee free when I took advice from them in 2002 when I was thinking about buying a flat (they made their money from lenders' commission) but I had to pay for their advice in 2006.

They also make money from commission on the product, however there is an alternative fee structure you can opt for if you object to commission-based funding for an advisory company. Can't remember how it works though. Oh yes, here you are...

since Alexander Hall are not free, and are being quite slipery in telling me that they do charge, I have seen that London & Country are fee-free/whole-of-market.. which sounds ideal.. and heck before i take on any mortgage, I will be obviously finding out on here and other sites if it is a good deal that they have found (coz, remember, you all rock!) :T

from the same programme we also saw the "chop chop" technique of cutting and pasting small changes on contracts that had already been signed. Can't remember if that was Foxtons or not. I once entered a Foxton's agency - never again.

Will try every trick in the book to cling on to your deposit.

I have to point out that Foxtons employees are targeted on releasing deposits as quickly as possible and work very hard to get them released to tenants on time. The reason any deposit is late or deducted from is down to the landlord only.

    Would that be this Foxtons?

Not really what the LL expected & not entirely down to the LL. 26% LA fee, bargain. Makes you wonder just how 'independent' the cleaning firm used was.

As previously stated, terrible rep is earned; University Housing Departments don't strike off agencies (& warn foreign students) without a reason.
I do hope you're telling the truth?

Was indeed - nice that they are so honest and above board. Like you I once made the mistake and entered, never again. (& why you always copy the contract before returning it)

I've never experienced such a high pressure, aggressive, money grabbing bunch of wannabe Sloane rangers in in all my life - why do these modern day spivs think that reeking of Gautier, too much hair wax and a suit from Next will instill a sense of trust? They knew nothing about the properties, did the usual most expensive last trick & along with a few other 'don't give a toss' responses kept asking me to sign again & again & again - so I walked away.

Apparently they're big on making sure the client think that they can trust their Foxton's contact - guess it's easier to knife people in the back that way.

Never ever ever will they have business from me & I always warn anybody I know looking for property to avoid them like the plague.
I do hope you're telling the truth?
