Wow, you people are hard core!!! The most I've ever done is 6 - I find my brain starts to go a bit mushy when I type up the reports if I don't update as I go!

    I know what you mean.
I've started using jobslinger and I just record all my notes by voice between shops then email it to myself for when I get home.

I've done a maximum of 6 in a day I think. Think my brain would get a bit jumbled after many more as well!

I make quick notes on my mobile unless it's a stupid RE sports shop where you are not allowed to have a phone out! Compose a message to myself and then save it. I always type in the shop name first so when I am looking for the notes, they are easy to find. Normally it's SHOP NAME, TIME IN, TO THE LEFT, TO THE RIGHT, STAFF NAME, DESCRIPTION, TIME OUT. Works a treat for me.

I make notes on my phone as well - my headings are pretty much like yours :) Still find my brain feels a bit jumbled by the end of the day though

Just use your common sense and dress like a normal customer would in said store. Unlike me who glammed up to do a weekly payment store and looked so out of place it was unreal. Oooops! :o:o:o

    Similar tale here!

If you are just starting out and not sure of the area, check it out before you go.

I was begged to do an urgent job in the west end of Newcastle and agreed to do it after doing some merchandising in the city centre. I was all smart in a trouser suit, heels and tidy hair. When I got there, it was a really run down shopping centre under a tower block and the majority of the other customers were wearing leggings or pyjamas and out of shape cardigans. I got the special treatment as soon as I walked into the store - ooops :o
Here I go again on my own....
  • Phones are a good way of taking notes in my experience. Looks very natural, and as long as you don't do anything silly you can take your notes in a totally discreet manner. I really don't know how some of you do 16 in a day, though. I did 7 once and was knackered at the end! (They were all RE though, so I had the joys of entering very long reports). If I was to do more than about six of the same type of shop in a day, I think I'd just start getting confused and mixed up.

I use my mobile too and pretend I'm sending a text, I then save it as a draft.

How do you do 16-24 shops and reports in 24 hours. that is a very tough ask. driving time + shop + report will take 1-2 hours. are you planning on not sleeping?
