I hope you have better luck than me registering with IMS. Apparently I'm on a waiting list as they have enough active shoppers in my area. They still sent me an emergency appeal for a shop in Timbuctoo though. It's quite frustrating hearing alerts for loads of jobs, when I can't get to them. Let's hope some juicy assignments land in your lap soon.

Exactly the same for me, and I ticked quite a wide range of locations I could visit too.

HA. I was a little alarmed to open the door and find said manager in there directing me into a cubicle. Perhaps there was something wrong with the one she was standing in front of, it was rather suspicious!

I half expected her to be standing outside the door with a selection of luxury soaps and moisturisers after I'd finished my business.

  • For those bemoaning that they can't sign up with IMS, I have three words - count yourselves lucky. They are absolutely fine until you need to cancel a job due to illness, then you will be spoken to in the most disgusting and patronising manner by their "manager" Andy. A more vile individual I've yet to encounter, in all honesty.

A lot of the merchandising jobs take much longer to complete than indicated, start dates for one particular client (who provides a lot of the work) are continually shunted, and they take ages to add on promised bonuses/extra pay for jobs that take longer to complete, then don't add on enough and ignore your emails. Then you phone up and they (probably pretend to) take your details and say they'll get someone to call back, which of course they don't, until you end up having to call everyday and they get fed up.

Save yourselves the bother, they are not a good company at all.

Well, I feel a bit better about that. You just always wonder about the companies that don't accept you or don't seem to have any jobs in your area. You wonder if they are the company with loads of high paid work just around the corner, but sadly I'm beginning to realise they probably aren't - mix and match always seems the best policy.

I think we have discussed them before and I appreciate people have had problems, but there are other sides.

I recently had to cancel 3 jobs due to illness, and I just sent an email and had them cancelled without a problem or even contact:

Number of calls completed within the last 90 days: ***
Number of calls released within the last 90 days: 3
% of calls booked and successfully completed (i.e. not released) 98%
% of calls completed on time (completed and uploaded before the deadline) 100%
% of results uploaded on time (within 24 hours of call completion) 100%
    Reliability Score 99%

Perhaps because I live in a large city (not London) they have lots of work in my area and I can cover a fairly large number of jobs without too much travel, they are more accomodating.

that said I turn down many of their jobs as the pay isnt great for some, and yes some tend to take a lot longer (any one counted supermarket trays before... never again !) but some take a lot less, the last wave I did stated 45 mins expected and in some cases it took an hour, but on average I managed to get most down to 15 mins
  • Am I the only one who can't see ANYTHING on Retail Active? I keep seeign the alerts for stuff, yet i've not seen anythgin for almost a year ont here, even when I search outwith my county. Are all the jobs age restricted?

Search England and Scotland, as most Scottish places are in England for some reason. There are quite a few on England at present
  • Even when I do that or search for England or GB I still get nothing. Oh well!
