No I'm talking about people young & able enough to work. I'm in favour of improved state pensions on the grounds that most pensioners can't do much about their situation (in direct contrast to all young & able people who definitely can). Having said that anyone living off just a state pension & no savings has at the very least failed to educate themselves financially. Any of us who is relying on a state pension to support them is in dreamland & that's been true since state pensions began. Whoever heard of someone living well off a state pension.

I have heard of that, admittedly they have caring families who contribute holidays, treats etc, one or two have told me that they had never been so well off and consider Brownie the patron saint of pensioners without private pensions ;)

A fine comment from someone who wants the economy run just for the benefit of savers ;)

Lol, try to keep up. If you're going to presume to state what I want you need to at least be able to understand it.

TBH I don't think you're up to it.

A well run economy should encourage people to save, rather than just falling on the state if their circumstances change. The current policy seems to do exactly the opposite and reward those that live beyond their means.

Plenty of investments out there paying good retruns. Think yourself very fortunate to be able to at least have such options. Billions of people have nothing at all.

When I retire I'll be investing appropriately and then out there helping Romanian street orphans instead of whining about by golden pot.

This might be an unpalatable truth for lots of people but it's a truth nonetheless. The fact is people who are unemployed & struggling through genuine hardship do exist but in most cases they're just lazy & would rather say it's impossible to get "the job they deserve" so they need to live on benefits instead.

I totally agree with you on this and over in discussion time here I get slated for such truthful comments, but cant you see your'e now mimicking the benefits apologists by claiming the world owes you a favour. The truth is you do have the option to invest for better returns but are choosing not to (probably because you dont want the risks / hassle) but plenty of retired people I know DO SWITCH INTO INVESTING IN PROPERTY AND OTHER THINGS - it can be done, but you CHOOSE to whine instead and it isn't dignified especially given so many have so little in the world.

You will say "ah buy us oldies have to invest in cash for safety" and I will reply, no you dont, your'e just stuck in your ways - you have other options, whereas many in the world do not benefit from having such a wonderful range of options, they have now't.

Who's posts are you reading? Where have I ever once said my money is all in savings? The answer is nowhere because it isn't. I would guess I am a lot more diversified than most people when it comes to investements.

As I've already pointed out in this thread this isn't just another person posting based solely on self-interest.

So rather than incorrectly accuse me of whining why don't you take the time to actually read what's being said. Then there is far less chance of you looking like a moron.

BTW you also seem to have jumped to the entirely incorrect conclusion that I'm an "oldie".

He/she will just say they are writiing on behalf of people who are not as smart as them and they themselves actually have a filly diversified portfolio earning oodles of dosh :)
