E.on Correspondence online & how to avoid cancellation fee?

Hi,

1) Is anyone aware of whether there's a way of finding correspondence from E.on on their website?

Specifically, I received a letter from them in August, notifying me of a change to my tariff (SaveOnline 3) effective 13th Sept. I use the excellent "Meters" app on my iPhone, and immediately entered in the new tariff details, effective 13th September. I can no longer find the letter.

Subsequently, I received a bill dated 17th September, detailing my charges pre- and post- 13th September (the date the tariff changed). The tariff for the charges post-13th September differs from that that I was notified of (and entered into my Meters app) in August, but in the absence of the notification letter, I have no way of proving that.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

2) My contract comes to an end on 31st October, so rather than accept the auto-switchover to a more expensive tariff, I plan to shop around and find the current best tariff for me (with cash back etc. too). I've checked E.on's T&Cs online, but can't find reference to the period during which I will be exempt from their £30 cancellation fee. Can anyone shed any light on this please, as I'm loathe to pay it?

Many thanks in advance

Given the time it takes to switch (about 6-8 weeks), by the time you've found a new supplier and initiated the switch, you'll have completed your contract before you move over. You'll have a short period on EOn's standard tariff but not too long.

    Hi Adrian

The letter you're referring to won't be on our website, I'm afraid.

If you let me know the prices you logged into your phone, I'll be happy to check them against your area/tariff.

Just drop an email with your details to the address in my Profile and I'll be glad to take a look.

Saveonline 3 ends on 1 November 2011. Therefore, as victor says, by the time a switch goes through this tariff should've ended.

Once the tariff ends, you'll be put on our standard online tariff unless you tell us otherwise. This has no cancellation fee.

We don't usually give discount on final bills. However, changing after the end of Saveonline 3 means you'll have completed the contract. This also means you'll receive all the discount applicable to the tariff even if part of this falls within the final bill.

The only discount you'll miss out on will be for the time spent on the standard product after 1 November 2011 until you leave.

Hope this is useful Adrian. Give me a shout if you need any more info.
