Assistance with igoogle and gmail please

I use Internet Explorer. I set up google as my home page with various newspapers etc that interest me and with gmail in one of the sections. When I fired up IE i got the homepage with a list of my emails in one of the windows. If I clicked on 'GMail' at the top of the page another window opened with my emails.
A few months ago I started getting two pages every time I fired up IE. One with my emails and the other with my igoogle windows containing my other items.
Is there any way I can return to just getting one page as previously. (Hope that makes sense).

I use iGoogle/GMail with Firefox and Chrome and it works OK.

    Perhaps it doesn't like Explorer.

Both programs are constantly being developed, and Microsoft and Google have had their spats, so perhaps neither can be bothered to fix the snag.
