Buildings insurance following subsidence

Hi, I wanted to thank Forum posters who directed me to Legal and General Insurance for buildings insurance. You have saved me a packet!.

Our buildings insurance was up for renewal yesterday and Woolwich wanted a premium of £645. For years we have been trying to get an alternative quote with no success. Due to a collapsed drain we had underpinning in 1991. In 2005 we got a structural engineers report that gave us the all clear but still no one else would insure. Since then it has been a case of ringing Woolwich every year to beg them to keep the annual increase to a minimum as we have found this very hard to afford.

However, yesterday I arranged cover with L&G for a mere £168.99, a saving of £476. I checked everything carefully on the telephone and they really are prepared to cover properties where the subsidence was more than 15 years ago.

They will insure if:

YOUR PROPERTY (AND ITS OUTBUILDINGS) HASN'T BEEN:
Affected by flood in the last 15 years.
ALSO, IF YOU'RE BUYING BUILDINGS INSURANCE, YOUR PROPERTY (AND ITS OUTBUILDINGS) HASN'T BEEN:
Affected by subsidence, heave, landslip or structural movement in the last 15 years.
Underpinned, or provided with other structural support in the last 15 years.
So thank you very much indeed.:T
