  • Well after a conversation with my 17yo son last night who accused me of swapping Asda weetabix with the proper stuff (I wouldn't care but it was the real thing!). This morning I have opened the Asda packet that I had hidden and put the sealed contents in the proper Weetabix box and sealed the box down with a pritt stick :D

I keep teling him it comes from the same factory (interestingly comparing the ingredients, they are in exactly the same order and have the same % of wheat.).

Weetabix is pretty much the only cereal that I will downgrade on.

Yup, when he was going through his Cheerios phase I made the mistake of buying Asda's own. They were no comparison.

All my friends save their veggie peelings and stale bread for my pet piggies and chickens and ducks and on a Sunday I go to the market and get all the veggies the stall holders can't sell (bruised or split stuff mainly and the outer leaves of the cauliflowers) but this does mean I have to hang over the edge of the wheely bins to get the stuff out......I absolutely pack the car full of it......it a bit stinky driving home though......! But it lasts a week if you keep it in the fridge....we have a spare animal fridge for that....otherwise there would be no room for our own food !!!
I will add that I am usually quite well turned out and on one occasion I was scolded by a market trader, saying 'a respectable woman like you shouldn't be begging for food and claiming it is for animals' I was a bit embarrassed !

I'm quite surprised in general about the unpopularity of my mine sweeping, I was hoping to start a national craze.

I will try and rationalise the issues everyone has brought up.

    1. Backwash etc. - I think most people wouldn't do this much in the first place. Even if they do it would be minimal and plus considering I am minesweeping alcoholic drinks a little bit of backwash does negligible damage to me compared to the poisonous alcohol which is also in the glass.

    2. Stealing etc. - I am quite careful to only take people's finished drinks. If you are to walk around a night club it is quite obvious when you spot a potential unowned drink. If there is someone near it who I think may own it just a quick question to them gives me my answer. I have been doing it for years and never had any altercations with anyone.

    3. Spiking issue. - Quite a serious potential problem. However I feel that the amount this occurs is blown hugely out of proportion by the media. If someone wanted to spike a drink, they would presumably find a drink someone is drinking rather that a half empty one lying on a table somewhere. This is called minesweeping for a reason though, you always have the potential of stepping on a mine!

    Reasons I minesweep:

    *Variety of drinks to taste.
*I resent paying a huge mark up for a drink just because I am in a club
    *Exceptional value for money.
    *No queuing.
*It is funny - talking to my friends finding how much everyone spent on their night out and my total is under a £5 despite being very drunk and getting a kebab on the way home.
*Recycling - there is a huge amount of wasted drinks and wasted money from people leaving them, I am helping recycle these drinks.

    Proudly cashing in since 2006. . .
  • It's not for me, but good luck to you midear :)

    feels rather sicky though
