  • Loads of unexpected expenses in the past couple of weeks that have really thrown me!!!:eek::eek: I am afraid that I have not been very good (this is a common problem when I don't spend time on these boards!!) and this month is financially going to be hideous!!:o It has got to the point that I am starting to fret about it but I am trying not too...I have three days away next week which require money for the whole socialising thing and very little cash left to do it. :o

On the plus side, I made a £2223 op in january and have started this month off with £135 - ds gave me 120 rent and i got 15 cashback from when I changed energy supplier!! :D

Great OP to start the year :T
  • I've been away from the boards for the past couple of months due to a variety of personal stuff and I have spent an inordinate amount of money due to things like MOT, oil, clearance expenses etc

I don't think that I am going to hit any of my targets this year as a result, but am hoping that the expenditure will subside by the end of this month and I will at least be able to get back on track by then! ;)

I am slowly getting there with the house, I am thoroughly enjoying being able to sit in the kitchen and watch the birds through the patio doors and this is turning into my favourite occupation!! :D Its also incredibly theraputic...its hard to feel stressed when you are watching crazy creatures!!

Right, off to catch up with everyones diaries....:D

You have done amazingly well so far so don't give yourself a hard time. Things crop up and you have to enjoy where you live. Can I ask, what are clearance expenses?

We have a garden room and I love sitting back, watching the birds and looking at the flowers. It's extremely relaxing. I can't understand how others don't see enjoy, or even see the personal value of, nature.

Thank you peonie, that's incredibly kind of you to say :o:D

The clearance expenses are the hiring of skip/council removal/ labour to clear the rubble & rubbish from our recent kitchen refurb....its impossible to get a skip in my garden due to its angle, so we had it placed elsewhere until the work was completed and then moved it....cost a fortune!!

However, it has been worth it :T

I absolutely adore nature, its the reason I moved to my area..:D I didn't even see the inside of the house when I put the offer in...just the garden!!! ;):o
Never regretted it for a moment though :j:j:j

  • had a bit of a nightmare week as everyone in the house has had lurgy :( On the plus side, it does mean that I haven't been spending but I have had to throw some food away as no-one has really been eating

also had some news from dd which has completely thrown me....she is moving in with her bf in the next two months when his flatmate moves out!!!:eek: I am really pleased for her but also very sad...:( don't want to have my little girl move out but guess that they have to spread their wings at some point ;)(probably won't notice the difference really..she's rarely home these days!!)

I have spent most of today being reasonably productive though.....reading lots of stuff on the forums and cooking a mountain of beans for the freezer :D I am very pleased with the bean fest as it has filled up a full freezer drawer and will make dinners much easier to sort ;)

I have also managed to pay off most of my cc bill which had crept up due to having such a nightmare few months so I am exceptionally pleased with that.....it means that from next payday, I can start hitting the mortgage again in the way that I want to ...woohoo!!!!!!:j:j:j

  • Hectic few weeks at work!! Totally knackered at the moment...went away with my sis last weekend and had a fab time but very little sleep ;) far too much wine drunk in the sun and absolutely no guilt about it whatsoever!!! :D

Have managed to pay another £1250 off the mortgage this month though so really pleased with that....hoping that by the end of next month, I will be sub 50k!! Woohoo!!:j:j:j

have spent this weekend decorating the kitchen....really pleased it is done now...we have put it off for ages because I absolutely detest doing it....it is probably the most boring thing I can imagine! :o

House currently disgusting so will have to get on and clean it before environmental health come over and close me down...not to worry, I will get it sorted at some point...at the moment I think a snooze will probably be the best plan!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Grr!! just wrote a huge post and then managed to lose it!!!

Okay, I will start again!! Just paid £650 off the mortgage, have another £170 floating around to put onto it on Tuesday, £50 my friend owes me which I should get back by the end of the month and also have another £650 to go on by the 23rd!!!:D Not a bad month at all ;) I have planned meals for the next couple of weeks which should mean that I have absolutely minimal spends before next payday and I have also put in my expenses which should all but clear my credit card debt which is outstanding!!:j:j:j

It has been a difficult couple of months financially, so getting myself properly back on track is really pleasing....:T I am going to enjoy starting next month without having to move money around to make things work ;)

  • I managed to pay nothing further off the mortgage after all!! Too many other things came up that needed the cash so I am accepting that its another bad month...part of my calm acceptance is the knowledge that June is also going to be a nightmare of a month, probably won't get anything put to the mortgage at all, so I am giving myself a break, avoiding stressing about it and trying a lot harder in July!!;):D

My dd moved into a flat with her bf in the last couple of weeks...there are certain expenses around that which I will cover as her moving in gift....and I am feeling a bit lost without her at home...regardless of hardly seeing her when she was here, its weird knowing that she isn't just going to turn up out of the blue :( I also need to check the figures on my budget....her 'rent' money used to go towards the mortgage op's (i have made some...honest!! :o) so that will change the targets a bit....

I have also slipped back into the regular drinking (still haven't quit smoking either :o) but am going to really cut back on both this month with a view to cutting them out in July....I am so lucky really, considering what I have put my body through over the years, I am in reasonable health but I know that I am going to have to start to put some effort in if I am to maintain it, so it will be a dual 'save cash & get fit' effort in July! :D

I have some interesting cases at work recently which have really brought my own life into sharp focus....it's funny as you think you appreciate what you have until you see someone who has lost everything and realise that you haven't shown gratitude for the things in your life anywhere near as much as you should.....so, before i sign off for the night, I want to just say that I am incredibly grateful for having the opportunity to live somewhere I love, for having enough money to be making it entirely mine so much more quickly than expected and to be sharing this journey with people who make it worthwhile getting up in the morning :D
