Ebay invoice- trying to add a discount

I am trying to add a discount on an eBay invoice, in the bit where it says:
Seller discounts (-) or charges (+)

When I enter -2.99 it comes up with an error:

Invalid discount amount. Invalid discount amount. Please enter a discount less than £0.00.

The buyer says the paypal system wont let him pay £20.00 as we have agreed and insists he must pay £22.99.

Where am I going wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Don't click add or recalculate. Just stick the discount in and then hit ok / send / whatever it is.

Thanks scheming_gypsy, that's not working. Should I be typing -2.99 or am I doing this wrong?

Put the discount in, if it will let you, then preview it to check it's worked then send, if it's right.

Sorry, if that doesn't work I don't know. I think that someone said on here a while ago that you can't give a discount if you're offering free p&p, could that be it?
You could send an invoice direct through paypal for ebay goods, if nobody comes along who can offer a solution.
  • I have that problem as I offer free postage so cannot discount an invoice. I usually ask the buyer to pay and then refund their paypal account by the amount agreed.

Yes, eBay only allow you to discount the postage amount, not the item price. Annoyingly!

Ask them to pay the full amount and then refund them the difference. Or give them your Paypal email address and ask them to send you the correct amount directly and then you can manually mark the payment as received.
