Hi Guys,
We have just bought our first house, and are getting some work done knocking a couple of internal walls down and getting a steel beam put across the house.
i spoke to the insurance company and have since spoken to several others who have said they will not insure the house if we have not yet moved in, and we are having the building work happen whilst vacant.
the building work will take around 3-4 weeks.
i have called quite a few companies and they have all said the same thing. they would insure us if the house was vacant for that long but there was no work happening. they would also insure us if we had moved in and the building work was going on, but not both...
does anyone know an insurance company that covers this? (even short term)
bear in mind, its not the liability i am talking about here (that is a whole different discussion) i just need to get it insured to comply with the mortgage, asap!
cheers

Aviva via a good broker that can put your case across.0

Can you recomend a good broker?0

you're best looking and researching yourself for the best broker - I've found that going on a few comparison sites or comparing yourself gives you a little confidence getting the right policy for you. once you've found a few good ones speak to them, as policy wording can leave some grey areas so best asking for specifics0
