  • I'm quite lucky as where I live there is a shop called Card Factory where the price of cards ranges from 29p and they are really nice. Buy all my cards there. And the slogan on the bag says it all "if it's the thought that counts why do others charge so much"

It doesn't tell you much but there a phone number and email address so they could probably help you find a local stockist!

I am involved in this if anyone would like a catalogue, doesn't matter if you don't live near me as I could post them to you :D . PM me for further details.

Card Fair and Card Warehouse are owned by the same people.

I just had a look on their website and found some money off vouchers that can be printed out:

    http://www.greetingcardgroup.co.uk/pdf/vouchers.pdf

    There are three on there:
    - spend £2 and get a free gift bag
    - spend £10 and get £3 off
    - spend £5 and get £1 off

Cannot use more than one voucher at the same time.

There is a store finder page on there, but it says it's under construction at the moment.

Someone also mentioned Ace at http://www.browse.24ace.co.uk/. I wonder if they're the same as Studio? Their website is pretty much identical, as are the URLs. I've bought cards from Studio before and have found them to be pretty good value. There were £1.50 for a pack of 15 cards. They were in the sale, but the original price was £3.00 for 15 cards but even at that price they only work out at 20p each.

The thing that I didn't like about Studio is the P+P charges. It is a flat fee of £3.95, regardless of how much you're ordering. £3.95 sounds an awful lot, but in actual fact, when you work it out, it still means that cards are very cheap...In the worse case scenario:
    Buy 15 cards at £3.00
    P+P is £3.95.
    Total = £6.95
    Cost per card = 46p.

If you get them in the sale (they've always got 1/2 price sales on), so that you get 15 cards at £1.50, this works out at 36p per card.

I've always only bought their cards if I've been buying other stuff as well to make the P+P viable, but looking at my calculations, I think that they're pretty viable to buy by themselves.

I like these e-cards. Most come with music. I have signed up for one year as I was so impressed.

I ordered a pack of 50 very high quality cards for £12 from one of the museum catalogues [my mum and I shared the postage cost]. I reckon they should do me the better part of 2 years and although it was a higher initial outlay I reckon I would save a great deal in the long run.

Just thought another money saving tactic is to buy the boxes of notecards you can get - they make good cards. Our local charity shops also do boxes of mixed cards that have been donated to them and they're also worth a rummage!

  • I just got a beautiful set of 40 hand made cards from QVC in a gorgeous pale blue and white flowered keepsake box for £17. The cards are mostly birthday and there are designs for all ages, plus there are sympathy, thankyou, wedding, baby and get well and blanks. I think they are the nicest cards I have ever seen and there is also a little drawer in the keepsake box with a pretty pen and envelope seals in it, where you can also keep stamps. I am going up to the QVC shop soon and will look to see if they have them there any cheaper.

I normally get the cheap cards from Wilkinsons. Morrisons do a 3 for a £1 range. I went on a recon to a newly opened card shop near where I work today and came out with 4 for a £1. Nice cards as well. I made a really nice valentines day card this year, but normally anything I attempt to make looks really tacky. I find is easier and less time consuming to just buy cheap cards when I find them and save them for when I need them.
  • I started selling greeting cards from Phoenix Trading because I loved the unique designs, quality and the fact their only £1 for one or 90p each for ten or more. The gift-wrap is lovely too.

You have to plan ahead, get most of my family xmas cards in September - usually 3 or 4 for a pound - good quality from places like bewise or poundstretcher.

This year bought a whole load of birthday cards from birthdays sale - 4 for a pound. I also buy ad hoc birthday cards and Mothers day cards from poundstretcher shops (all under 80p). Kids birthday cards are cheap in Tesco - 29p, 49p espec useful for kids' school parties etc.
