Hello
We have a 2002 Hyundai Accent which we want to sell because it is getting too expense to repair and we can now manage just with our other car.
The accent has an MOT and car tax valid til next March (2012). We have in last 12 months paid for a new exhaust and other minor jobs but the engine management light has now come on and have been told the fuel system needs £400 of work. We have been told it is safe but fuel performance is now poor. Indeed we can still use our car as a 'runaround'.
We now want to sell it and as long as we disclose to any buyer what needs to be repair then is that ok?
I have never sold a car privately before, so any advice welcome.

"car driving well but engine management light on hence reduced price...."0 -
don't mention that you've been quoted £400 either! as people will go in very cheap. Just because you've been quoted £400 doesn't mean it'll cost somebody £400 to fix it.0

No No No No, what sort of advice are you guys trying to offer, this is a money saving sight, not a rob thy neighbours 1, please.
Op, be honest disclose the fault and there's no comeback, you'll also have a clear conscience. :TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Do bear in mind though that the car was already in banger territory, if you look an autotrader similar aged vehicles start at £500

So yours is worth significantly less.0 -
Look into what its scrap value is. Might surprise you and get it off your hands for a bit of cash, with no comeback.

the correct advice; the car runs fine but the engine management light is on because of a fuel problem. That's being honest and not robbing anybody.0 -
EML light on, car still running and in daily use no money to fix, hence price.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
