If the painter is downstairs decorating the vacant commercial premises that is nothing to do with you. I0

Unless you have been given, in writing, an address in Eng/Wales for the landlord you can stop paying rent until given one. Put the money to one side as at that point you will have to pay the unpaid rent. There is no uk address on the tenancy agreement, I've checked. They live overseas and rent out their properties they own here.
If you ar paying direct to the LL or his bank, you must deduct tax first unless advised by HMRC you don't need to - but you've already checked the link I gave you above haven't you.......?0 -
So the decorator was in the downstairs room, which is not part of your flat but is accessed by a shared hallway?
In which case, what makes you think he's got the keys to your flat?0 -

I've looked at the link but don't really understand it if i am honest.
We've decided to leave the tenancy when it is up providing we can find another property, which i'm not sure we will. Which leads me to my next question.
Our first agreement was 1st may - 30th april, but the renewal states the agreement runs 20th - 19th april, We pay our rent monthly on the first, but this don't work out if our agreement starts towards the end of the month. So for the last month can i just work out how much of the month we have rented and pay that amount?Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
Debt payments 2012 £433.270
