External Hard Drive Icons

Hi

Is there a way to have my External Hard Drive icons as an actual image that represents the drive.

For example, when i plug my iphone in, it comes up in My Computer as a picture of an iphone 4

Ive seen on other peoples computers that their external drive icons look similar to the actual thing.

Is there a way to change my icons. I have 3 externals and they all look the same, other than the drive names.

Yes sort of.

I thought it did it automatically?

Under properties, customise, there is an option to 'choose a file to show as this folder icon.' Im not sure where this file will be

Sorry, removed the post as when I tried it with a network drive the same options were not there

It needs to be a .ico file so you could click sart computer then use search for .ico then see if any are suitable

If not, try these free to use online icon makers, you can use any picture, though good quality ones will be best

Hi. I have tried with both jpeg and ico files and with both, nothing happens after clicking apply and then ok. They all stay the same as the default drive icon.

(Runing win 7 64bit)

Just to show the icons i have chosen and how it looks.
Software was very easy to use. Had to do a restart of PC to make changes. I changed them all then restarted once after to save time.

That has its advantages, and useful to know it is easy to do, so I might have a go at that because all the printers which have card readers show as removable drives with the same icon
