pre payment meter - top up query
bit of a random question for people.
I just purchased £20.00 credit from the Co-op and had this put on the purple key (I have a receipt to show this).
Prior to adding the credit to my meter, the balance was showing as £4.72. After applying the credit of £20.00 (which said Credit £20.00 accepted), my new balance is £29.72
being new to pre payment meters - where did the extra £5.00 come from?
When scrolling through all the options, I discover that I've topped up by £65.00 since moving in, but I've never topped up with a fiver - so I'm very confused by all of this.
Anyone got any ideas?

Could be similar to the above - maybe the previous tenant had used the emergency credit when they left. The meter would have recovered this from you, so maybe your supplier has sent it back to you.0

thank you for the replies.
Since i haven't topped up from a doorstep caller, I've only ever used the shop across the road (co-op), I'll not worry, it just seems odd.
As an aside though, whilst pre payment meters are supposed to be more expensive than having a credit meter, I'm really impressed by my lack of usage since I moved in here. It's handy to know I've already paid my bill - but obviously in the future I'll be looking to switch back to normal meters.0 -
I love having prepayment meters as it isd so much easier to control my usage, no nasty shocks when bill comes. The only downside for me was forgetting to top when at shops or having to go out inbad weather.
Now BG offer a free gadget that lets me do this online so very pleased all round.Slimming World at target0
