My colour ink cartridge ran out, but i am only going to be printing black. My printer is not letting me print without a colour ink cartridge, is there anyway around this?
My printer is a Kodak ESP 5200.
Cheers!

i have never managed to find a way around this.
it seems a lot of printers have this annoying feature these days. You got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.0 -
yep agreed, with most black and colour printers it is programmed in that as soon as one finishes you can't print with a single cartridge, I suppose it's just a way of getting you to buy more ink!!!Every Little helps :rotfl:0

One reason given is that the heads would dry out
Another one is that some printers use colour ink to produce shades of grey etc, for example with black and white photos, though it can also apply to documents0 -

Or a way to protect the printhead, using the printer with empty cartridges installed will burn the printhead out fairly quickly.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
