Insurance payout

not sure if this is the right place to post this but we were in a car accident a couple of weeks ago and my dgs suffered whiplash, he has now been offered a sum of money but my daughter says he wont be able to touch it till hes 18 by law, does anyone know if thats right, thanks for any help, he's 16 by the way

Thats what happened to my sisters lad. Everyone got paid out except him, I think it goes into a trust or something.

In exceptional circumstances its possible to apply for it earlier. He tried to claim his to buy a computer to help with
his studies and got rejected.

l suppose its a good idea really, a nice litle nest egg for them to come into when their a bit older and wiser, but the look on my dgs face is saying it all
