My gut instinct would be that it would be ok. The law permits you to drive a car to/from an MOT centre without a valid certificate on the basis that you are returning from a failed MOT/going to get retested.
Can the DVLNI be of any help?
As far as I remember, a vehicle has to have an MOT to be on the road, even going to the centre. That's why they advise to book before it expires.
And Mr Wilson - Our then Environment minister- got fined for driving a motorbike with no MOT as he was going to the centre for a test.Well....... I thought it was good!!0 -
Ok, now it gets confusing. Just read this http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-national/roads-minister-sammy-wilson-caught-without-tax-or-mot-14008179.html.
And it seems you can drive a failed car from the MOT centre but not to a garage?? Common sense seems a bit short at times!Well....... I thought it was good!!0 -

I checked with the PSNI yesterday when they were calling at my neigbours & a car can be on the road as long as it's not driven anywhere apart from to & from the MOT center.0 -

Yes, and to add lack of MOT does not invalidate insurance. Not in mainland Britain, anyway. As surely as night follows day capitalism will come crumbling down. On a mission to secure a just and ethical society.0
