I found I got more from WBAC.com than garages would offer as part X - but you have to work hard to keep them inline. Go online and they'll give you a price for your car in (say) "good" condition...and then you'll go to the actual place and they'll say "oh, but there's a tiny dent here, a scuff on that alloy..." and reduce their offer by a fair chunk...hoping that you forget that your car *is* in "good" condition...just not "perfect" condition.
I think they've been slapped about a fair bit by various regulators, so hopefully they're a bit more on the level these days....0 -
Depends what your car is worth and its condition.
The places that buy your car without selling you one will be paying rock bottom prices and the online
price may drop further when they see it.
Part ex price will depend on what profit the have in the car they are selling you. If the car your buying
offers £5000 minimum part ex value on your £100 banger then you can be sure its £5000 overpriced.
Always ask how much for a cash sale and no part ex, Being honest with a dealer and getting chatty you
may find they dont want your car and they may lose money bunging it through the auction.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
If you google them you will see lots of complaints have been made about them because of promising one price online and then claiming the condition etc is worse than you stated and so haggling you down.
Dealers certainly will do a PX for a used car0 -
They're worth it as long as you don't need the full value of your car. If you want to just get rid of it with as little hassle as possible then they're fine.0

will garages accept a used car in part exchange for another used car? Cheers
Yes they will. Its a standard part of their business model. You won't get quite as much as you might get selling it privately but it makes the transaction very simple - on changeover day you drive in using your old car and out in your newer one.
Depending on the condition of your old car, they may sell it themselves, may send it off to another local dealer, or send it to auction.0
