    i know some vauxhalls are known to F*** the master cylinder if you push the fluid back. I know the astra mk3 does,

    ive done a few changes and never had a problem with pushing the cylinder back in without the bleed nipple open..

    I just replaced mine and undid the cap on the reservoir and using the old pads over the piston, I used a small wrecking bar to push it back. It worked fine.
