Destroying the unions has left a huge amount of the population uninvested in their future through work, who see industry as the enemy rather than ally, and has destroyed a crucial source of communication between employer and employee.
'Union' has become a dirty word because of the inconvenience some strikes caused and because it has been seen as in the interests of some highly influential forces (media moguls) to break them largely because of their party political funding and support ability. Do you remember the print unions prior to Wapping?
They were still insisting on using hot metal processes and 100 year old Linotype to print daily newspapers. they would also refuse to print the papers if they did not agree with the copy.0 -
