Another Drive Assist query.
Has anyone had a similar case that they maybe be able to advise me.
My wife’s car was parked outside our home in the street when it was damaged during a collision between 2 other cars.
The insurance company referred me to Drive Assist to provide a car whilst my wife’s was being repaired.
I asked at the time if this was likely to cost me but they reassured me that as it was a no fault accident and costs would be recovered from the guilty party’s insurers.
One year later a firm of solicitors has called who act on behalf of Drive Assist to recover the hire car costs which come to £900. They have sent me a statement to sign saying that one of the drivers of the 2 cars ran into my wife’s car. I am not even sure which car it was and also to provide bank statements at the time of the accident to establish that I could have funded a hire car as this reflects the amount of money that they are able to recover.
I phoned them to point out that I am not sure which car it was and to say that even if I could afford to spend £900 on a hire car I would,nt and would have just put up with the inconveinence, they replied that I should sign the statement and forward a covering letter with these concerns.
I only got involved because my wife asked me to run her car to the garage for repair and pick up the hire car, hence my signature is on the credit hire agreement.
I am unsure about how to proceed and welcome any comments from anyone who might have had a similar case
Regards
Steve

Common problem here. Drive assist charge far too much for the hire car cost, the 3rd party insurer say "f*ck off" and then your left forking out for the hire car. MANY MANY people have had this problem, you need to do some internet searching.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
