O2 line rental

Hello,

I have just moved into a new house and yesterday signed up for O2 broadband & line rental (via quidco £100 cashback)

Their online order tracker said there's a problem with the line so I rang them up. Apparently they cant provide line rental to the property?

Has anyone come across this before? I thought any provider could provide line rental?

Its a 80's house in city centre so retentively modern line, with O2 equipment at the exchange. Filter on the line and an old BT home hub in the house.

This is the exchange

Thanks,

Ash

If the line is already LLU'd to another provider then that may be the issue. Who is the existing provider? Don't assume that it's BT. It's not normally possible to go direct from one LLU provider to another, you may have to go via BT on a return to donor.
The other possibility is that O2 have no more LLU capacity at present on that exchange-if so they should be able to tell you so.

So O2 have simply said that they cant do it at the moment and suggested that I sign up with the post office for 'line rental' the time being as there is no min contract. Still going to cost me £12.50 a month (O2 £7.5) and a £60 quid connection fee

Thought OFCOM had sorted out switching, aaaarrrrrrgggg

It appears your line is no longer connected then, which you didn't mention. Is there a dial tone on it?

Have not plugged in a phone so don't know about dial tone(don't own one phone line is purely for internet),

Is this the problem then? O2 don't/cant re-connect lines?

    Thanks,

    Ash

Right the plot thickens, spoke to the Post office who said that Themselves & BT cant use the line because its a cable line so i'm guessing this is the reason,

Checked with virgin website & to sign up with them them would still need to put in a new line so no idea what this existing line is,

Anyway I have given up now & signed up with postoffice for a new line,

thanks for help & listening to my ramblings
