MSE's advice has helped me with orange

Exactly a year ago, I terminated my Everyday 50 contract with orange and embarked on 120 crossnetwork mins +30 texts for the same financial layout of £15 per mth., for 18 months, and had been reduced from £25 for that period.

Today, having served 12 months of that contract, I asked customer services if they would consider giving me more mins, they offered 200 but said I would pay £30. Nothing would make them budge.

I then redialed and spoke to Retentions Dept. They offered me:-
1) 100% increase in mins to 240,
2) 30 free texts (which I hardly use)
3) £15 for EVER, unless I ask to change,
4) a new camera phone,
5) next day delivery

All I can say is that without Martin and his site of information, I wouldn't have been able to do this. Martin, thanks.islandman

I'm paying the £15 per month for just the 120 minutes + 25 texts and the phone.

I should have bartered more.

Still, I'm selling the phone and have saved £10 per month by renegotiating the contract. :j

Well done Island man. I told my sister to ring and ask for a better deal from Orange pointing out their website square deal (£15 120min and 30 text). They gave it to her straight away saving her £10 per month as she had been with them for years. Also told her to choose whatever phone she wanted.


I got my phones (1 for me 1 for oh) from www.Chatterbox.com. with their cashback deal - which they paid up promptly within 3 days - I had two Nokios 3100 both with 100xnet 100 tex per month. Cost just £6.99 for first line and £3.99 for second line per month. I did try ringing Orange as the 12 months are coming to an end in May to try and get more out of them as I pay them £50 per month for both lines. They didn't want to know. I will go back to them though to see what I can get.

and there's more !. I phoned my daughter to tell her what I'd achieved, and it so happens her contract expires tonight. She called retentions and got the same deal PLUS, she asked for and got EXTRA texts, in fact it was increased from 30 to 270 !, and she has a choice of four phones.

So, all those well meaning people who suggest that phone providers may not want to bother low users, I am here to tell the tale that they do.

It seems you get 7 days to change your mind. I intend phoning with a couple of dumb questions about sending photo's, and invite them to offer me a month free usage as well.
