Npower entry without a warrant

I am a Npower gas customer. I was in arrears with my gas payments (few months). Currently I am in the process of switching to another gas supplier. However, before the new supplier took over Npower instructed to their debt collectors and they have entered my house whilst I was away and fixed a prepayment meter. I do not think that they have a entry warrant issued by court to enter into my house as I have never received notification from Court or from debt collectors in relation to obtaining a entry warrant. What should I do:(:(

Sorry to state the obvious, but you need to contact Npower.
Your switch would have been blocked by them anyway if the debt was more than about £200.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Do you pay on bill and have not paid a bill or 2?
Do you pay by DD and have not paid several DD payments?

If they entered on a warrant then a copy of the warrant would of been left at the property.0

I'm sorry to read of your difficulties.
Is there an underlying reason you were in arrears, eg is there any dispute on the account, are you disabled, for example, unemployed or just struggling financially in general?
Is the meter (as the post appears to suggest) inside your property or could they fit it without actually entering?
Have you checked with Npower or the Court whether any warrant has ever been applied for?0 -

There was no direct debit and it was my fault that I was on arrears of payments. However, even a few months ago I was on arrears but I paid the arrears in full. This time also I was in arrears of payments for a few months and I was above to pay the same. I have received 2 or 3 letters from Npower and Utility Management Service (debt collectors) asking to pay the arrears. However, I did not receive any notice in relation to entry warrant.
My gas meter was inside the house. They have entered the house opening the door. They did not break the door but my neighbours said that they had used something to open the door. There was no copy of warrant or any mention of obtaining a warrant. They have just left a notice in relation to installing a gas meter and what I should do now.
As of yet I have not contacted Npower in relation to the entry. Should I contact them or can I find out from Court as to whether they have obtained a entry warrant? if so how0 -

This sounds quite worrying as you should have been informed about this beforehand. A number of bill reminder letters will have been sent to you - plus, the warrant of entry.

First thing to do is report a burglary to the police. Whether or not you have a debt is irrelevant; no company is allowed to break into your home without proper procedure. In all likelihood, you are already eligible for a compensation pay out on that basis alone.
Contact your local MP, and the energy ombudsman.
The Npower rep on here will probably try to talk it down, but if what you are saying is correct, you are the victim of a crime and companies that think they can do what they want in their pursuit of profit, need to be taught a lesson.
An Englishman's home is still his castle.
