USA Insurance for posessions

Hi, I am soon to be off to New York on my first ever holiday. As well as purchasing suitcases, the esta visa thingy and dollars, I need to get proper insurance cover. I was browsing the insurance pages of MSE. I was thinking of going for just a one off policy, not an annual one.
But I will be taking my expensive SLR camera with me and also my macbook laptop. Would this be covered under a normal holiday insurance package? Both items would be packed in my suit case.
I don't have home insurance, so I can't rely on that.
Any help would be super as I have never been away before and don't know how allof the insurance policies work.

Travel Insurance only offer limited cover for personal effects.
If you can't arrange Home Insurance or personal possessions cover where you are living, the search for gadget Insurance. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Number one, DO NOT pack valuables such as a camera and laptop in your hold baggage. No insurance policy will cover any loss or damage to valuable in hold baggage.
Most travel insurance policies only cover up to about £300 for a single article. They are mainly for medical and cancellation cover, not personal baggage.
The preferred option would have been to add them to your contents insurance under Articles Away from the Home, but that doesn't apply here.
I am surprised that you don't have contents cover if you have expensive items such as a DSLR camera and Mac.0
