Help can not find my driving licence

Hi

I started a new job yesterday and they need to see my licence to put me on their insurance but i can not find it.

I am sure i have heard somewhere that you can ring the dvla and they will fax a copy to my boss is this true and if so does anyone know what number i need to call?

More seriously, directgov.net gives the number 0300 790 6801 for ordering a new licence, might be worth asking them. Seems unlikely that they'd do it what with data protection and fraud issues though.

ok thanks, my hubby thinks his mate did this a few year ago while he was on holiday so he could hire a car, i will give them a ring tomorrow

There is a premium rate 09 number that hire companies can call to do this check. Obviously the cost is passed on to you when you do this.

However your employer will be required to keep a copy of your licence on file, so this option is not suitable. Best call the DVLA in the morning and order a new licence. It cost about £20 last time I did it (which was a long time ago) and took about a week to arrive.
