Conservatory Heating

Sorry - I think I didn't phrase my previous comment very clearly. What I meant to say is that you will need to have the main room thermostat set to a high temperature so that the radiator in the conservatory reaches the set temperature before its TRV sets it off. But I don't know if this will then turn the boiler off.
The rad in the extension will have virtually no influence on the boiler coming on or going off, provided it is all installed correctly.
Provided the rad is installed correctly, the room will heat up more or less the same as the rest of the house.
All and all, you are probably better off getting a pro to do it, than trying to work this out for yourself; it seems you are quite out of your depth here.0 -
We have a convecter heater in ours, no choice really, we have warm air heating so it would have meant digging the floor up about 10ft and putting in extra ducting.
Convecter heater does it for me, we have it on a timer so it comes on half an hour before we get up, Our cuppa room when we first get up.
If we arent going to be in there for a long time we just turn in down so its off and it soon warms up when we do use it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
We use a Dimplex 3kw oil free radiator in ours, has its own built in timer and temperature thermostat, not the cheapest radiator but very efficient and heats the conservatory in a few minutes, also set to come on just before we get up.0

1) Put a CH radiator in there? +Cheap to run - Wont fire up as it will be colder then where thermostat is.
2) Put an electric heater in there + more thermostatic control - a fortune to run?
Any help greatly welcome !!:):)
Safe - even with a little one and pets, a 120 sq foot double glazed conservatory will cost for half a day every day about £35 for the whole winter period. Rock solid / stand alone / and if it does not work out they sell for nearly the same second hand.
They are almost ' instant ' in heat terms and many ways to use it :
- frost setting
- low & ECO setting
- turned off completely and switched on 5 mis before use will bring the room to temp
- etc
No I'm nothing to do with the Inverter / makers / sellers etc ! - they just fit the bill in certain conditions - and this is one of those conditions.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. We have a large conservatory and we just dont bother trying to heat it.
The heat just goes straight through the roof and windows and you need loads of energy to fill something thats over 20ft by 16ft.
We thought about putting rads in but theres no point. On a sunny winters day it's ok. But ultimately because of the size we are thinking of turning it into a proper room with insulation and some sliding doors.0
