    I find gel liners with a brush a bit easier to apply and smudge so it doesn't look so harsh. Do what works for you though we all have our own style, age doesn't apply - has somebody said something to shake your confidence?

    ETA sorry just seen your post above. You've tried gel liners.

    I know you've said you've tried gel liners, but I really recommend giving the maybelline gel eyeliner a go...it has *the* best applicator brush. Much easier to use than the others on the market...in an ideal world, just use the brush and use either MAC or Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner, but the maybelline eyeliner isn't bad (applicator comes with gel eyeliner pot), and it's only about £7. I find it much nicer to use, and less harsh than liquid eyeliner.
