Don't bother getting the house valued. Assuming you can agree a value between yourselves now, just use the Nationwide or HSBC house price calculator if you should ever split, which will give you the percentage increase/decrease in value in the intervening period.
Unless house prices either rocket or crash, even disagreeing now to the tune of £10k, the result of the method above will be minimal.0 -
Oh this is a good one! It would be better to get some form of legal agreement between you both. If I had any boyfriend moving in I would ensure that he had a rent book and in effect, rented a room! If however one can prove that one has been paying toward a mortgage then if you split, you hae the ability to claim a percentage of the value of the property and from my memory, one of my 'nice' friends came away with a nice lump which was calcualted by solicitors on tbe basis of the increase in value between moving in and intended leave date, minus the owners capital investment, minus legal and estate agent fees then divided by 2!!! She got £20K!0
