Best of luck and best wishes to the 3 of you!
You'll need to call Tax Credits and tell them your partner has moved in (as soon as it happens or you will get overpaid). Your single claim will be stopped and you will have to apply again as a couple as they take your partner's income into account as well as your own. If your joint income is over £16000 per year, you'll lose your working tax credit entitlement, but will still be able to get child tax credits - hope that helps...0 -

I got caught out with this one as well when I started paying my licence for this place, they make you pay a whole year's licence in six months then you are paying six months in advance for the next year..... I think.....I thought I had this worked out a minute agoBut that's definately why the high figure.

You'll never guess what has happened!!!!
The CSA have sent me a letter finally saying that I should be paid a decent amount
Instead of the poxy £77 a month i should be in line for more like £80 a week!!!!!
Oh my god this is so overdue.
Things have gone quite well over the WE. I have sent letter to every one of my creditors to inform them of my situation, although needles to say that the will not be impressed.
I have also been smoking less, not even intentionally, just through staying indoors all day where I wouldn't normally smoke.
We have bought a new car, although I say we, I actually mean BF. This one is a 1.4. This will replace the fuel guzzling 2.0 litre injection beast that has been costing us a fortune :A
Plus cos its been like a present it has cheered me up a lot as debt stuff has been getting me down a lot recently.:rotfl:
So good old chris is much in the good books
Finally yes I'm awar that TC will be affected when he moves in but I thought the earnings threshold was higher than that?????
And i'm pretty sure they will still pay their share of the childcare no matter what we earn????
Thats one to research this coming week
speak to youo guys soon, Laura xxxOn a mission0 -
Hi Laura, it's probably best to ask on this board ...

about the Tax Credits.
The other thing that I noticed is that you're sending letters to creditors. What are you telling them?No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
A lot of you have recommended using uswitch. At the minute I am on a credit meter for my gas and a token meter for my electricity. This is why i havent bothered trying it yet.
Do you guys think that there is any point?

Heres my four penneth:
Rent £224.99
Council Tax £100.00
Water Rates £30.00 Could going on a water meter cut this down?
Gas £40.00 This is high too could you cut down by cooking more than one nights meals at once, putting heating on for less
Electricity £21.65 This is slightly high. Plan what you want to watch on TV and only put it on when those programmes are on. Don't leave things on standby and switch things off at the plug when not being used
Food £175.00 This is very high. Try cooking things from scratch and making the most of the value brands at the supermarket
TV Licence £26.30
Petrol £130.00 Do you need a car? Could you walk, cycle or use public transport? Share lifts?
Clothing £20.00 Make what you've got last for the next 6 months. Have a good sort out and sell anything you never wear anymore on ebay. When you need new clothes use ebay and second hand shops
Phones £90.00 Do you need more than one mobile phone or one at all?
Childminding £161.66
Cigarettes £20.00 Have you tried cutting out or smoking roll ups instead?
Gym £60.00 Brisk walk in the park, swimming, keep fit dvd
Birthdays £15.00 Cut this down to £7 a month, your debt is more important
Holiday Savings £20.00 Put this towards the debt. Go on Sun Holidays and cheap UK breaks in caravan parks. Start saving for a mega holiday when you have paid it off. Paying the debt is more important at the moment2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
good luck with the job I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
I am a big fan of Iceland for mine and OH's shopping - we only have a small freezer so that helps to keep cost down!
other ways could be making own bread (and pizza - OH's son loves to make own pizza!)
well done on cutting down on the cigs - I have set a date of 15/02 for me to quit although I will be telling myself that I dont fancy one rather than I have quit...its a psychological thing!!!
what council tax band are you on? are you getting it discounted for only 1 adult in house?
with £20 per month for clothes, is it for clothes that have been outgrown or is it for clothes that have got torn? if torn and repairable get out the needle and thread!!!
Edit: forgot to say - if you have been charged for going overdrawn/late payments in the past get them charges back - even those that are with DCA!0 -
I am now fully registered with 2 MS websites.
The CSA have written to me telling me that the new payments should be coming through by march
I have been called by orange who told me I was due for a free upgrade. so not only have I now got myself a trendy new phone for free but my tariff is not down to £45 a month with plently of inclusive mins!!!
And finally we should have the lettings agent coming rounf to BFs house in the morning to get that on the rental market.
I'm just off to check for assignments now
Thanks for the support guys you really are helping xxxx :heartsmilOn a mission0
