Does this seem like too much to be paying?
Hello,
I'm with Npower for both my gas and electricity and it seems to be fairly high in comparison to what others seem to be playing.
House is a 3 bedroom although it is an older house so is slightly harder to heat. Central heating and hot water are only gas applications. All kitchen(cooker, hobs etc) and shower are electrical.
I'm paying £145 a month for both which seems high to me.
Bill states
"We calculate you use 4,990 kWh of electricity and 28,956 kWh of gas over 12 months."
which is close to what we actually used over the last year.
does this seem excessively high?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Stuart

Given that you have said it's an older house and that it is harder to heat, I'm inclined to think it is fairly normal usage. It could certainly be reduced.0

A lot depends on the house.
Double glazing?
Good loft insulation?
Modern boiler?
Cavity wall insulation?
Lots of tv/video games left on standby?

Hi Stuart, Im in a 3 bedroom 1930s house - so solid walls rather than cavity. Also with Npower and have gas ch and electric for shower, cooking etc, our current estimated use was £133 a month.
We run a pond filtration system (about 500watts per hour) 24 hours a day so that does push the bill up. Yours does seem a little high compared to me, have you checked which tariff you are on is the best for you?0
