If you were to order an item from, for example, Comet. They ask for a £17.95 delivery charge, then fail to deliver and you ask for a refund of all monies paid, what would you say if they said they weren't going to reimburse the delivery charge? Like it or not, its the same principle with Ebay items that go missing in the post. If you lose your proof of posting, that’s your fault (Sorry), not your buyers, and you have to take the consequences

They absolutely do refund the postage cost.

I can't believe anyone would be happy to pay for an item plus postage, receive nothing and then be happy with a partial refund. This is now bordering on it being the buyers fault/problem.

    Come on, don't kid yourselves!

the postage cost is not refunded in the claim....

Another good reason then to keep postage costs realistic. So for small items where some of the big sellers do the 1p item and £6.99 post and packing I guess they lose a lot.

Actually though my last claim was paid out in full PLUS a book of stamps...so the Royal mail are not consistent with the way they handle claims.

Who is this reply aimed at ?
I've looked back at the posts and can see nowhere where I've argued to keep the postage.
I asked a question "Do you refund postage ?"

It's not aimed at anyone Tom, no offence intended. It's just the principle that I work on

That would be a great scam.

List multiple items worth £100 on a BIN for 1p and charge £9.99 postage.

You will be inundated with orders

    Get paid £10 each.

Don’t send the items, pretend that you sent them but have lost the proof of postage, refund 1p and keep the £9.99 postage.

I’m off to eaby to make my fortune.:D

The Post Office do not refund postage on claims for missing parcels and letters.
I've claimed before and had a big 'set too' with their customer services for not giving back postage costs.

That is not my experience. I have definitely had cost of item (clothes sent for a birthday present - for what it's worth) PLUS postage refunded. Sent to me as a cheque. Additionally the parcel was sent to Holland so I wasn't sure how they would check, I was amazed how quickly they responded. I know, this doesn't sound like the Royal Mail we all know!
It's not the taking part but the winning that counts.
