Fortis insurance is a very large underwriter when it comes to Motor/Home Insurance. Many Companies deal with them ie. Confused, aa, Kwik fit, money supermarket and many more.
When I worked in the insurance industry and sold Fortis policies I never heard any customer saying anything negative about them.
However I see that you are concerned about what they ask for should your car be stolen. This is standard for any insurer, but not all advise this until the claim is processed. Re you having a new car then you would be unable to provide certain documents. However you should still have a receipt for the sale.
Hope that helps.
Fortis have been on the go for yearsIf I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -
It may be seen as odd not to have a receipt for a car under 3 years old. I presume your bank statement for the date you bought the car should show a large withdrawal though so hang on to that.
Did you buy from a dealer or was it a private seller? If it was a dealer I would be very suspicious.0 -
if it was a private sale you could say that I would think.0

I'm sorry, but to spend the kind of money you must have, to buy a vehicle less than 3 years old and not get a recipt... you must be mad :-(0

I got it at a cheap price lower then market value as the guy needed the cash. I withdrew my savings so I do have that. As the car has a millage below 10,000 it hasnt been serviced yet, and as its under 3 years you dont need to get MOT.0

Out of interest did you do an HPI check on this car?
It could :-
1) have outstanding finance on it. Insures will deduct from any settlement made.
2) Have been an insurance write off.
3) Have been stolen.
How well did you know the person?0 -

I would check your service book.
They usually say "at 10,000 or 12 months whichever is SOONER".
You have probably devalued your car by a few hundred quid by not having any service history.0
