Worried about neighbour when viewers come around

We have lived in our house for about three years, but everyone really keeps themselves to themselves and although occassionally you get a 'hi, awful weather', that is about it.
We are an end of terrace and I think the walls are rather thin. We are due to put the house on the market on Monday, but while sitting here at the computer near the adjoining wall, I can hear my neighbours music and her clumping up and down the stairs - it does sound sometimes like there is a baby elephant living next door.
Apart from that she is fine - especially since her fella walked out following their very loud arguments.
I'm not sure whether it would be a bit odd to pop around and say, 'oh by the way, can you stop clumping up and down the stairs and playing your music so loud near the wall because we might have viewers coming around' and most of the time it should be fine as she works - but I'm worried about afternoon/evening/weekend viewings when she is home....
Any advice?

this is a problem, i know as i sold up coz of noisey neighbours. if shes freindly enough you can always approach and see what goes....if you rather not take the risk you will have to work out veiwings around the times you can be reasonably sure shes quiet, i know its a pain but if you want to move, runnin the risk may not cause you any problems though either ,it may be yourl notice it but they dont, get he telly on. open a window so outside noise comes in, and stomp about yourself during veiwings lol, sometimes things that bother you dont bother themYou're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on0

Poor you, noisy neighbours can drive you round the bend.
With regard to viewings you must be very careful not to lie to the viewers or in anyway mislead them - you must be very careful not to contravene the property misdescriptions act - your estate agent will be able to advise you on this.
I once suffered from noisy neighbours - in the end I had the dividing walls soundproofed - it wasn't that expensive and it can be done by any reasonably competent d.i.y.er.
Good luck.0 -
if there is a time they are out at work or shopping then arrange viewings for then. usually people have patterns. i remember selling a house where whenever the sun was shining music was loud. I just took a chance and didnt influence any viewing times. only once was music cited as a problem."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0

I'd certainly avoid going round and asking your neighbour to be quiet - a sure way to stir up a hornet's nest is to poke it by telling her she's causing a nuisance, particularly if she's already feeling bad about life 'cos her fella walked out. Like naughty children, aggrieved 'grown ups' will tend to respond by increasing the bad behaviour as a knee jerk reaction. Ignore it and hopefully it will go away.
Or try distraction - get friendly and see if there is something you can do for her before you move (got anything useful you might not want to take with you but which could be of interest gifted to your neighbour?), engender a good relationship and make her feel you are being genuinely nice, so that hopefully she will act with more consideration off her own bat.0 -

i can totally sympathise with noisy neighbours. at our last house we lived next door to a family who always argued, slammed doors and the kids would play loud music every sunday when the mum was at work. we nicely approached the mum, who stopped talking to us, but kept up the noise.
i agree with the grinch, dont say anything to next door, and hope viewings go ok if you dont know her noise pattern.
good luck x0 -
When I sold my last property & had a very noisy family living next door I lived in dread of them doing their shouting & hollering when viewers came to look at the house. I decided if it did happen I would just give an excuse to the viewers that the neighbour had rather noisy & loud relatives from up north staying for a week or so & ask them to excuse it.
Fortunately though it was lovely & peaceful during viewings, so I had worried myself silly for nothing. Hope this turns out to be the case for you too.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
