If you have double glazing, do you have a ventilation lock? I leave all my windows on Vlock when I leave in the morning so that fresh air can come in without freezing my own bones. I then shut all the windows when I come home to keep the heat in.

You don't want to ventilate and don't want to heat, a dehumidifier is the only option.
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
  • Id take a look at the windows - from your description i'm imagining fairly large sash windows that you've already stated are drafty.

Heat will be flowing out of these so secondary glazing will stop the drafts and add some insulation. Once this is done i'll bet your radiator has a far easier time heating up a room where the heat isnt running out. A dehumidifier thats quiet enough to sleep through or can be left on during the day would finish it all off > with a reading of 85% humidity you definitely need to dry out the room!

Also consider the sources of moisture. Do you have extractor fans in the kitchen and bathroom? Keep the Kitchen door shut when cooking etc.

The best two ways to beat condensation.

The cost of dehumidfier running and cost to buy can't outweigh the cost of a rad running!!
