email suddenly developed an issue

Hi all, 9 month old laptop, no issues up to now but suddenly having problem with an email issue - if i sign up for something and the company in question send me an email with a link for me to click on to confirm I'm genuine it comes up with an error box saying 'application not found' - I also had the same message when trying to click on a 'unsubscribe' button sent in an email for a different company - can anyone help me? thanx

    Does your INTERNET work otherwise. It's not an email problem as such, sounds like the security setting in the email softeare you are using.

    What do you use? Outlook? Thunderbird? Webmail?

    windows live mail and the internet works fine, I haven't changed any settings so a bit confused as to why this has suddenly happened

    open up Windows Explorer (not internet explorer), or My Computer etc... click Tools > Folder Options > Flie Types and scroll down to HTML and make sure it's set to open with your internet browser. It sounds like your default programme for internet links isn't configured properly.

    Are you using AOL perhaps, there is a small bit about 1/3rd down says allow links , I dunno really but the pub landlady borrowed my pc this p.m. and her AOL (crap now she's not watching) won't allow links unless you allow links

    When I open up Windows Explorer(or My computer) using Windows 7 the menu at the top goes FILE EDIT VIEW TOOLS HELP
  • put windows explorer in search box & it came up with libraries, when I click on computer it comes up with hard disk drives & devices with removable storage
