Parking Eye Macclesfield

Hi
My friend has received a PCN for parking in Aldi in Macclesfield. They have recently changed the parking rules so it is no longer an hour free, you have to go in store and enter your registration number at the till to stop yourself getting a ticket. She hadn't seen that this had changed and just parked in the carpark for 34 mins.
I have read lots on these PCNs and presume that you do not need to pay. Is this the case with all PCNs? And do you just ignore all letters? She is just scared that the cost will go up. It is £40 if paid by 12/10/11 or £70 by 27/10/11.
Any help would be great,
Thanks

Ignore it, and write to Aldi telling them that you and your family will no longer be using their services whilst they employ these cowboys. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

You have to differentiate between what you mean by "PCN". A real one (Penalty Charge Notice) issued by the council must be paid - unless you successfully appeal. What your friend has received is a fake one (Parking Charge Notice) issued by a private parking company.
So in your friend's case you will see that she doesn't have to pay. So tell her to ignore all correspondence from Parking Eye and not to contact them in any way. There is no need to worry, nothing will happen. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
I would also either direct your friend to this website herself or print off the Parking Spy 'threat-o-grams' she is going to get and show them to her.
What ever she does, tell her not to cave in an pay these scammers!
Parking Spy are one of the least persistent of the PPC's and they usually give up after just three letters!
I suspect that good old Parking Spy have had a bit of a windfall by convincing Aldi to take on board a new system and loads of legitimate Aldi customers have been done 'in the change-over' period!!!
I would actually write to the local rag and point out that anyone who has got one should just ignore them too, and if they don't believe you get them to come to this forum for advice and support.
Oh, and watch the BBC Watchdog link on the stickie on the top of the forum as well!0 -
Aldi get a cut of the money.
So dont expect any sympathy from them.
Shop somewhere else that does not try to trick, lie cheat and scam money out of its customers with FAKE parking fines.
Remember: there is no cost whilst your money stays in your purse !
Dont let them bully your friend in to deceiving her out of money she needs to live on.
Dirty crooks !

This bit could be interesting. Someone else can remind me whether it was Lidl or Aldi that was recently fined (as in a proper fine) for imposing restrictions on car parking when the planning permission didn't allow them to do so.0 -
'twas Aldi in Portslade. Clicky HereMy very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -

That might not be a bad shout to check the planning conditions. They have gone from 1 hours free parking to customer only car parking and it would be interesting to see what the planning conditions say... of course, there might not be any as well!0
