Fraudulent transfer to first utility

I have recently been contacted by first utility to inform me that they had been unable to collect direct debit payments for energy used when I was a custom r of theirs. I spoke with them to say that they had never been my suppli. Turns out that I had been fraudulently transferred to them for both electricity and gas from they say details supplied by a comparison we site. They now say I owe them £650.00. I don't know where I stand on this because I didn't transfer to them and they never told me they were supplying me due they say to computer problems, first I knew was the request for payment. The bills relate to last year and earli this year. Anybody else had problems with this company? Trying to go through their complaints procedure at present but very slow going and I am getting nowhere. They are threading recovery action for monies owed.

Who do you think your gas and electricity supplier is?
how do/did you pay them if by direct debit are they taking the direct debit from your account?

Who was your supplier before? They would have had to send you a final bill when you "switched." If they are still billing you and you are still paying them, then that's proof you never switched. If you didn't pay anybody during the disputed period, then it sounds like you do owe somebody for the utilities used.
Did you also "switch" away from First Utility?

It's an erroneous transfer, based on the evidence given so far there's nothing to show that it is fraudulent.
