Charity shop for books in Edinburgh

I'm getting jealous of people on these boards talking about their 10p books and bags of books for £1. I'm an avid reader and I need a cheap fix!
I live in Newhaven and work in the National Museum on Chambers Street, so would prefer shops in those locations. I prefer 'literary fiction' and classics, but I'd like to find places where the books are £1 or less.
I'm mostly using Shelter on Forrest Road near the Uni and Oxfam on Nicholson, but their prices are edging upwards and I'm getting more and more skint!

There are a lot of charity shops right up Nicolson St, dont know about prices though. Is there not a large library at the High Street end of Forrest Road?, they may have ex library books for sale, my local library certainly does.:j0

Oxfam in Morningside & Stockbridge, St Columba's BOOK shop in Morningside, Barnados bookshop at the south end of Nicolson Street

I've been up and down Nicholson St quite a bit, but I'm finding either small selections or more expensive books. I love Oxfam, but there prices aren't far off new books on Amazon - I still choose Oxfam over new books for various reasons, but it's not really helping my book expenditure.0

Hope this isn't highjacking your OP too much but was wondering about the very many charity shops in Stockbridge. I go past on the bus when they are shut so haven't been able to take a look - wondering if they are expensive for books - anyone know?
there's quite a few up the Bridges [don't know the name of the street] but they seem to be quite costly up there.0 -
What about the shops in Leith? Shops in Leith do tend to be cheaper than up town.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0

I've heard good things about Stockbridge charity shops for clothes, and would assume books would be good too. Don't know about prices, though.
I definitely need to check out the Leith ones - oddly enough I'm not in that area much as I just seem to shoot past it on the bus (or creep very slowly past it more like)0 -
The Shelter shop in Stockbridge seems extortionate for books. About £6 for a hardback.0

The one near Pizza Hut is okay, think it's Save the Children?"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

of everything that comes along their way."

The book shops in Stockbridge are expensive for charity shops.
The Oxfam shop beside Greggs is specifically a book shop and has a great range, but not particularly cheap, but morally better to buy from !****************************0 -

Oops, that's what I meant. I think the books looked expensive.0
