E.ON - To switch or not to switch?
Been with E.ON for almost 2 years (ever since I moved into this property). Had a few ups and downs with them, but got sorted in the end. Our quarterly bills have ranged from £90 - £250, it's a very economical house and we like to do our bit by using only what's needed.
But 2 days ago our contract ran out, now they've automatically switched us to the 'E.ON EnergyPlan' and when I phoned them for a chat they recommended we switch to the 'SaveOnline 10' plan (it was apparently the most popular). It would also cost nothing to switch to any other provider since the contract is up.
I've done about 4-5 comparisons and many of them don't give me savings at all, because of the recent price hikes. So, I'm wondering if anyone else here with E.ON has been in the same position?
Cheers

Well - having also stayed with Eon, (cos their service is good), I have switched to their longer term fix, which will see me through 2 winters (I did this a few months ago). Once you make the (painful!!) psychological leap of faith that your unit prices jump up a bit now, but will soon be overtaken by the inevitable standard price increases that will follow over the next 2 years, you will soon see the sense (I hope!) of doing this. I am on the Apr 13 fix (no longer available) and my prices are already cheaper than the EOn standard tariffs....
Hope that helps!!

E.On Fixed Price April 2013 is still available, not that I recommend it.
E.On Pricing seems to be steering you to the Fixed tariffs, since the fix is about same price as standard tariff, whereas you would normally expect the fix to be higher.
I therefore suspect they are trapping as many lemmings as possible, before dropping prices in the form of 16% online discount tariffs, calling them SaveOnline 11, FixOnline 10. This means they don't have to drop the standard tariff, and the lemmings who only compare their fix against the standard tariff won't complain.
If you are desperate, switch on Ovo.0 -
Just to clarify neither Fix Online 10 or Save Online 11 are avaiable, and there are no plans for these products as yet, does not mean they wont be available in the future. For existing customers you can go on Eon energy fit. It is a rolling 28 day contract but if you stay on the tariff for 2 years the direct debit in the 12th and 24th month are not collected by Eon. The unit rate is variable and not fixed and there are no cancellation charges. Has to be an online billed account and if not already got one from eon free energy meter and energy efficiency survey advice and offers on solar panels, the Save Online range of products will always be the cheapest unit rate deal Eon will offer (or Fix Online if that range of pricing gets re-introduced). Energy Fit is cheaper than Standard Eon online tariff Energy Online, but dearer than cheapest Eon deal Save Online 10.0
