signed sealed delivered by stevie wonder is another song that could be interpretted (sp?) the wrong way - a lot of people choose it but when i looked up the lyrics it became a definate no no for our song choice!!

This made me LOL, I didn't realise he wrote it for his dog!! Cute!! :P

I quite like that song tho, just not sure if I'd have it for a first dance song tho.

Not sure what our first dance song will be, we'll be doing the traditional scottish grand march I would think, but more and more peoples weddings I've been to have had a "1st dance" after the Grand March!!

In so many different places, I heard it was a phrase Gary Lightbody's father used about a girl that Gary used to like. The father said "Your are like a dog chasing a car. You will never catch it and you wouldn't know what to do with it if you did."

Well whatever the meaning, to me reading the lyrics it sounds like a love song and no one is going to analyse it at the wedding. Especially because the lyrics don't say anything bad like the bruno mars song.

I'm having the song playing when we sign the register.

It was perfect for us to sign the register to, as we split up for a while a few years ago (it was my husbands decision to split so the lyrics are perfect!)

Plus we're massive Sevie fans so had to feature him in our wedding, so we had 'For once in my life' for our first dance.







The song I hate to see people choose is Luther Vandross, "Dance with my Father" for their bride and Father dance.

It's about someone whose Father has died, and they are reliving memories and want to dance with him again.

Not appropriate at all if your Father is still alive and it's him who you will be dancing with!

I think you have misunderstood what I was trying to say. When I said some people are so serious about marriage this was in the reflect to the second part of the sentance where I mentioned timeframes. So it was in reference to the organising of the wedding not the reason for it. Some people think it should be done a certain way, after a certain amount of time eg date for 9 month, move in together after 12 months get engaged be engaged for 3 months before setting a date, set a date for 18 months later etc etc etc! Whereas the truth is marriage is about two people making a commitment to each other to share their life together. In some cases it doesnt matter if you met 3 weeks ago and are on the way to the little white chapel, you love each other so intensely that you cant think of anything you want more than to be married.

you just have to have a sense of humour, its not like id walk down the aisle to it !:D
